This potato salad has earned me some good fame . . .my friends love the summer because I make it for them as much as possible! However, this is one of those meals that don’t really have a recipe. You have to taste is as you build it until you are happy with the final result – which should be a kind of salt and vinegar potato. If you follow the steps in the video you should have no problems achieving your perfect, delicious potato salad! Enjoy!

when i was a child living near White Plains, New York, we would occasionally buy German potato salad from a deli called Seimer’s. (this was in the 1950′s and early 1960′s) i have never tasted anything so “to die for”. they shipped their potato salad all over the world. sadly, when the owners died, their recipe died with them. what a terrible loss. they offered two kinds: “mit” and mitout” (with and without mayo) the potatoes were sliced thin and nothing was visible except potatoes. no onions, no parsley, nothing. it is my guess that they cooked the potatoes in some spice, but i have no particular knowledge of what they might have used. if i could just find someone who could make potato salad as they did. i wonder if they were Germans or German Jews, i don’t know.

I learned this recipe from some ladies that sold me my deli in New Hampshire about 15 years ago. In turn, they learned it from a little old German lady who used to prepare it in the back of a gas station – her husband’s perhaps. This recipe is absolutely delicious! I hope you give it a try! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I made this potato salad today to go with some Brats for dinner. I’ve never been a fan of German Potato Salad, but this is GOOD! And that was just my taste test – it will be great when the brats come off the grill.
My husband is so happy I finally made it, so I’ll be back for more of your recipes.
Is there some way you can add the nutritional value to the recipes? Or would this have approximately the same as other German Potato Salad recipes? Thanks!

Thanks for trying this out! It is truly delicious! I have no idea about the nutritional value. However, I am in the process of getting the appropriate software so that I can start adding that to my content. I really appreciate you coming by! Take care and enjoy your dinner!

Hi, wish I could try this recipe as the comments seem to indicate it’s a very good one. Unfortunately, I am on a dial up connection for my internet and to load your video would take me almost an hour per minute of video, I am unable to load a video for over 8hrs.

I’m sorry! Unfortunately, this is not a salad that you can write a recipe for. It is something you go trying out – a later at a time. Thanks for coming by!

I am using this recipe for the first time to make for my parents and daughter. I grew up in Germany (army brat) but never found the perfect recipe. Just by the look of the recipe above this looks like home. Crossing my fingers that I do it right. Thanks for the video. I will let you know the results.
