Bake potatoes in oven — easy to make absolutely delish. You can use them as sides or as a light meal depending on the toppings you add to them. On that same note, you can make them very healthy or not so much . . . depending on the toppings you add to them! Ha ha!
Typically you will find that people add sour cream, butter, bacon bits and cheese to their baked potatoes. Frankly, I love eating the like that as well. However, you can hold back on the extra calories by adding olive oil instead of butter and low- fat shredded cheese. Whatever floats your boat.
In this post I want to show you how to bake a potato. The way I like to do it is without wrapping the potato in foil. I use Russet potatoes which I scrub and then coat in olive oil, coarse salt and freshly ground pepper. I then place them on a baking sheet in an oven previously heated at 375 degrees. Depending on the size, they should be ready anywhere between 60 to 75 minutes.
Once they are done – I test them by piercing them with a paring knife – I take them out of the oven and let them sit for a few minutes. Then I cut open the top and add a little piece of butter, a spoon of sour cream, homemade bacon bits and finely chopped chives. You can add shredded cheese on top as well. Delicious!
Try making little baked potatoes for brunches. Nice alternative to hash browns or country potatoes.
