Teriyaki Glazed Grilled Salmon

This piece of salmon was grilled on a soaked cedar plank. We decided to glaze it with a thin coat of Teriyaki sauce and the final result was just amazing! I bought the fillet at Costco for $14 dollars. It is Atlantic farmed fish and , although I understand it is not the best ecological choice, I have to say the organic alternative is way over the top expensive.

Fire up your grill on high until it is hot and then reduce the heat to low. You will be cooking the fish slowly for about 20 minutes. It is very important that you soak the plank well. We soak ours for at least 1 hour before grilling. You do not want the wood to burn. If you are using a charcoal grill, go ahead and heat the coals and, using a metal tool, pile them to one side. This way you will be a able to cook the fish with indirect heat. You will need to cover the grill.

Once the grill is ready, place the fish on to the cedar plank. Make sure to rinse it first. Squeeze a lemon – removing the pits – over the fish and season liberally with salt and pepper. Apply a thin coat of Teriyaki sauce – we used store bought – onto the meat.

Place the plank in the hot grill and cook the fish for about 20 minutes, until it is cooked through and flaky. Serve it with your favorite side and enjoy! This is truly delicious!
