Making your own taco seasoning is quite easy. It is also a great way for you to control things like the amount of salt you add to your food. Here is a simple recipe for this delicious addition to your Tex-Mex recipes!
1 TBS chili powder
¼ tsp. garlic powder
¼ tsp. onion powder
¼ tsp. paprika
¼ tsp. oregano
1 ½ tsp. ground cumin
¼ tsp. of ground chili peppers – chipotle or cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp. coarse salt
½ tsp. black pepper
Mix all ingredients well. If you want to make more you can. Store it in a sealed bag in a cool, dark place and it will last you for months.
Hi Julia!
I am so sorry for the delay in replying back! I usually use 1 TBS of seasoning per pound of beef. To that I will add approximately 1/4 cup water. If it dries up too much I add a little more. I have a recipe and video called ground beef tacos where you can see how I make them. Thank you for stopping by!
