This bratwurst recipe is pan seared and served in a roll with caramelized onions and a mustard and beer sauce. Absolutely delicious.
Be patient when caramelizing onions. They will take awhile but your patience will pay off. The onions natural sweetness will come out and complement your meal.
The sauce that we will serve these with is made with beer and yellow mustard. It is a sweet and salty sauce that will complete your sandwich. Feel free to add a little spice to it if you like.
This bratwurst recipe is quite special and very easy to make.
Here’s a very nice way to serve Bratwurst sausages. You will love the intensity of these combined flavors. Here is what you need for four people:
4 Bratwurst sausages
1 medium yellow onion – sliced
1 – 12 oz. bottle of beer
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1 tsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground chili pepper (optional)
Heat some oil in a large skillet. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and caramelized. Set aside.
Wipe the skillet and add some more oil. Pan fry the sausages until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
Add the beer, mustard and sugar into the skillet. Mix well to combine and simmer for 10 minutes, until sauce reduces and thickens a bit. Return the onions and sausages to the skillet and mix to coat well. Simmer for an extra 5 to 7 minutes. Serve in rolls. Enjoy!
