In this post I want to show you how to make cream cheese frosting. It is basically made with cream cheese, unsalted butter, vanilla and confectioner’s or icing sugar. It is ultra easy.
I guess the most important recommendation for this recipe is that the butter and cream cheese be at room temperature. This means you have to plan ahead and take them out of the fridge at least a couple of hours before making this — all depending on how warm your kitchen is. This will assure a nice and smooth cream when you beat them together. If they are too cold you will end up with lumpy frosting.
You might also want to sift the confectioner’s or icing sugar. Sometimes, especially in humid areas, the sugar gets lumpy and hard. Other than that this is very easy and quick to make.
This is what you need to do for this easy cream cheese frosting:
Makes about 3.5 cups of frosting
1 cup cream cheese
1 cup unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 ½ to 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
· Place cream cheese, butter and vanilla in a bowl. Beat until creamed well.
· Add the sugar to taste and mix well.
· Use to frost apple and carrot cake, banana muffins or bread, red velvet cake – or anything you want!
