Ground turkey is a great alternative to beef. It is lower in fat and can be used in many ways as it has the ability of acquiring any flavors you like.
Here is a recipe for burgers made with chipotles and other good things. They have no bread crumbs and a gluten free.
Chipotles are smoked jalapeño peppers that are canned in a tomato sauce called adobo. They add a beautiful spicy and smoky flavor to foods. They are packed with their seeds so they can be quite hot. The amount of chipotles that you choose to use will depend on how much heat you like to eat.
GO ahead and make this into a sandwich if you would like to. I served it with a salad in order to save some calories. You can use lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion and condiments in a burger with this ground turkey patty. It will be fantastic.
Here is what you are going to need for these perfect ground turkey burgers:
Makes six patties
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 pound ground turkey
1 TBS chopped cilantro
2 TBS minced red onion
2 minced garlic cloves
1 chipotle pepper in adobo — chopped
1 tsp. ground cumin
Salt & Pepper
Place the walnuts in a small, dry skillet and toast, shaking the pan, for about 3 to 4 minutes. You will start smelling the nuts as they are ready. Remove from the heat and cool down completely.
Place all the other ingredients in a bowl. Add the cooled nuts and mix well. Make six patties.
Make an indentation in the middle of each pattie with your finger. This will prevent them from turning into a meatball when you cook them.
Heat a skillet and add some oil. Work on medium high heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook until you see that the meat is cooked half way through. Flip them and finish cooking.
You can serve these as a sandwich, on a bun with some sauce, lettuce, tomato and red onion. Or you can have them with a side salad.
