This pizza bites recipe is vegetarian but you can make it with whatever you like. I used zucchini, mushroom and tomato but one could use pepperoni or sausage or ham instead. Ham and pineapple would be great in these as well.
I used my homemade pizza dough and my homemade pizza sauce for this recipe. However, you can make these with store bought if you prefer. I highly recommend that you make your own dough and sauce if you have the time but if you don’t it is fine.
These are a great appetizer but are also a nice snack. Send them to school in a lunch box and the kids will love you.
I know that you can easily purchase pizza bites at the store but you never know exactly what it is that you are consuming with processed food. This recipe will allow you to make something that is super popular and know exactly what you are feeding the family.
This is what you are going to need for this wonderful pizza bites recipe:
Makes 12 pizza bites
300 to 350 grams of homemade pizza dough (if using store bought use a package of pizza dough)
3 slices of zucchini – quartered
12 pieces of mushroom
12 small pieces of tomato
Chili pepper flakes
12 tsp of pizza sauce
1/2 a cup of shredded Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese mix
Preheat your oven to the max you can get it and lightly grease a 12 small muffin tin.
Roll out the dough and cut 12 circles using a glass or a cookie cutter. Stretch out the dough and place it inside each cup making sure to leave a border.
Place a zucchini piece, mushroom and tomato inside each cup. Sprinkle a bit of salt, oregano and chili pepper (if using) on the veggies. Spoon sauce on top of the vegetables and top with some cheese.
Grab two opposing ends and pinch them together. Do the same with the other ends and seal the dough forming a small ball.
Place the pan in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the dough is lightly browned. Remove and cool down. Serve.
