How to Bake a Potato

Baked

In this post I want to show you how to bake a potato. This is a great method that will deliver a crisp crust and tender potato.

We will not wrap our potatoes in foil for this. We are simply going to coat them well with olive oil and salt and pepper. Once it is cooked you can top them with anything you like.

In the following video I cut the potatoes in half and make one vegan and the other one loaded with butter, sour cream, scallion greens and bacon bits. You can also slit the potato in the middle and fill it. I would not recommend this if your potato is too big.

For the vegan potato I topped it with sauteed broccolini but you can use any sauteed vwgetable of your choice. I also used olive oil instead of butter.

Here is what you are going to need for this great baked potato recipe:

Baking potato
Olive oil
Sal & Pepper
TOPPINGS:
Butter
Olive oil
Sour cream
Chives or scallion greens
Bacon bits
Shredded cheese
Chili
Sautéed veggies

Heat your oven to 375° F (190 C).

Thoroughly scrub the potato and place on a baking sheet.

Drizzle olive oil on the potato and coat all sides.

Generously add salt and pepper to the potato – coating all sides.

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for between 45 to 60 minutes depending on the size. Test for doneness by piercing the potato with a sharp knife. If it goes through with no resistance the potato is ready.

Cut the potato in half and add toppings of preference. You can also slit the middle of the potato without cutting all the way through and place the toppings in the middle.

Serve and enjoy.
