How to Make Cream Cheese

In this post I want to show you how to make cream cheese. You will need a whole recipe of the homemade yogurt for this. I will attach that video at the end of this one. Frankly, I am sure you can make this with store bought yogurt as well. I have never done it but it makes sense that it would work.

This cream cheese is a little tart from the yogurt and is absolutely delicious. It is hands down better than store bought. Besides the yogurt you will need patience. Make sure you wait until all the liquid in the yogurt has been released so that your cheese is perfect.

This is how to make cream cheese at home:

Makes about 2 cups of cheese
2 liters (8 cups) of Homemade Plain Yogurt
Cheesecloth or 2 thick cotton dish rags
Large bowl and colander with ears

Place the colander inside the bowl hanging it the ears on the borders of the bowl.

Place a thick layer of cheesecloth or dish rags into the colander and dump the yogurt onto the cloth.

Place the bowl into the fridge from 24 to 72 hours until all the liquid in the yogurt has been released. Be patient and let the yogurt dry until you see no more liquid dripping through the cloth.

On a side note, do not throw out the serum that is released from the yogurt. This is wonderful for the skin. You can use it to wash your face and as a serum. It is also very good for acne. Keep it in a closed jar in the fridge.

Once the yogurt is dry and there is no more visible liquid dripping from the3 cloth place the cheese in a bowl.
Add the salt and mix well. Serve as you would regular cream cheese.

You can also form these into small balls without adding any salt and keep them in olive oil.
