This banana bread French toast recipe is made — obviously– with banana bread. However, it could easily be made with any bread that you prefer.
We are going to lightly spice up the egg batter for this recipe for French toast so that it balances beautifully with the flavors of the banana bread.
This is a very special meal that is great to serve during celebratory brunches. Serve it with powdered sugar or maple syrup. Delicious.
This is what you are going to need for this beautiful and delicious banana bread French toast recipe:
Makes 2 pieces
2 slices of banana bread
A splash of cream or milk
½ tsp. vanilla extract
A pinch of ground cloves
A pinch of cinnamon
1 tsp. butter
Whisk the eggs, cream, vanilla, cloves and cinnamon in a bowl.
Heat a skillet or griddle and add the butter. Spread to coat the bottom.
Place the banana bread – a slice at a time – and coat both sides well. Do not soak the bread. Shake off the excess egg and place the bread on the skillet.
Brown the bottom and flip. Brown the other side and remove from heat. Cut the French toast at the diagonal and arrange on a plate. Serve with powdered sugar or maple syrup. Enjoy!
