I want to show you how to make cornbread. This recipe comes to us from our friend @LDean on YouTube. It will render you sweet and moist cornbread that is super easy to make.
This cornbread recipe is made in a cast iron skillet. However, if you do not own one you don’t worry. You can make it in a round 9-inch (23 centimeters) baking pan. You will have to oil it well and heat it before you add the batter. If you do have a cast iron skillet this will come out perfect for you.
Cornbread is delicious as a side for many meals. It is great in the summer for barbecues and perfect for serving with chili.
This is how to make cornbread:
1 cup (150 grams) cornmeal
1 cup (128 grams) all-purpose flour
½ cup (50 grams) sugar
1 TBS (15 ml) baking powder
1 tsp. (5 ml) salt
1 cup (8 oz./250 ml) whole milk
2 large eggs – room temperature
¼ cup (2 oz./62.5 ml) canola or vegetable or grape seed oil
Heat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 C).
Place the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Mix well for about a minute.
In another bowl mix the milk with the eggs. Add to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Heat the oil in a 9-inch (23 centimeters) cast iron pan. If you do not have one, heat the oil in an ovenproof dish that you can also place on your burner. If you do not have that either place you’re your baking pan in the oven to heat it and heat the oil in a skillet.
Pour the hot oil into the bowl with the batter and mix well.
Pour the finished batter into the skillet and place in the oven. Bake for about 20 to 225 minutes until the bread is browned.
Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack. You can serve this warm or at room temperature.
