In this post I want to show you how to freeze asparagus. Asparagus are in season and they are delicious. This will allow you to enjoy them whenever you like.
You will have to blanch the asparagus before you freeze it. All this means is you will place it in a pot of boiling water for 2 minutes and then transfer them to a bowl with ice water. This will keep the asparagus in great shape when you freeze it.
You can use your frozen asparagus for roasting, stir-fries and soups. Delish.
This is how you freeze asparagus:
Asparagus
Water
Ice Cubes
Paper towels
Freezer bags
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.
Wash and dry the asparagus. Trim off the hard ends.
Prepare a large boil with ice water.
Line a baking sheet with paper towels.
Place asparagus into the boiling water and cook for 2 minutes.
Immediately remove blanched asparagus and place it into the ice water. Cool down completely.
Place cold asparagus onto the paper towels and dry down completely.
Place into sealed freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
