Turmeric Smoothie

This turmeric smoothie can be made with different fruits. I made it with frozen mango chunks, papaya, ginger and fresh turmeric. You can also make it with mango, berries, bananas, oranges or any fruit of your choice.

Turmeric is all the rave these days because of it’s amazing antioxidant properties. It is said that it stimulates healthy cholesterol levels, helps with type two diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, tumor formations and other diseases. I am not a doctor and I am not in any way suggesting that anyone follow this as medical advice but I think it does not hurt to consume it! It just might be excellent for your body!

Turmeric is used in curries as well. It is yellow and it will stain if you are not careful. You can use it fresh — it is readily available in grocery stores these days — or ground. Whatever you prefer.

Mangos are full of vitamins C and A. They also have fiber, folate, vitamin B-6 and potassium. They are sweet and delicious. I like buying them when they are in season, peeling them, cubing them and freezing them for future use.

Papayas are full of carotenes, Vitamin C, folates, fiber and minerals. Papayas can be expensive in the US but you can find them easily in other countries. Papaya is excellent for digestion. I will reach out for a piece when I am suffering of indigestion and it always helps.

Ginger is considered a natural antibiotic and is also a great anti-inflammatory. It soothes achy bodies and cleans up our system. It can be spicy so watch out not to add too much of it to your drink.

I used coconut milk for this drink but you are welcome to use any type of milk you prefer. Not a problem. I also did not sweeten this but that is a matter of preference. You can use sugar, honey, agave, brown rice syrup or stevia, for example.

This is what you are going to need for this wonderfully delicious and invigorating detox turmeric smoothie:

Serves one
¾ cup frozen mango chunks
¾ cup cubed papaya or bananas or berries
1 small piece peeled fresh ginger
1 small piece peeled fresh turmeric or ¼ tsp. ground
1 cup coconut or almond or rice or regular milk
Sweetener of choice (optional)

Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Enjoy!
