These homemade Mexican Paloma cocktail recipe is made with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, agave, tequila and carbonated water.
Mexican Palomas are very popular in Mexico — more than Margaritas. They are often made with grape soda but I prefer to use fresh juice. I also used agave for this cocktail but you can also use simple syrup or sugar. If you are using soda, skip the sweetener and the carbonated water.
I like rimming the glass for this homemade Mexican Paloma recipe with salt but that is absolutely up to you. I love the combination of the salt with the tangy grapefruit. This is truly a very special drink.
How to make a homemade Mexican Paloma Cocktail –
Salt and a lime wedge to rim the glass
2 oz. freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1 tablespoon agave (or simple syrup or sugar)
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 oz. silver tequila
A thin slice of grapefruit for inside the glass and a wedge for the side
Wet the rim of the glass with the inside of the lime wedge. Dunk it quickly into a plate with salt and rim it lightly.
Add the grapefruit juice, agave, lime juice and tequila to the glass and mix until the agave is well incorporated. Place a thin piece of grapefruit into the glass.
Add the ice cubes and fill with carbonated water.
Garnish with a grapefruit wedge if you want. Enjoy!
