This sugar free bbq sauce is an adaptation of the bbq sauce we make at home. I took out the sugar and the ketchup but the final result is pretty much identical.

This sauce is low carb and keto. I have the nutritional values listed below. As you can see, 1/4th cup is only 4.45 grams of carbs. Not too shabby.

I use this sauce as I would any other bbq sauce. I use it in the oven and on the grill for ribs and chicken, and sometimes inside a burger. It is truly quite special.

This sugar free bbq sauce will last you in the refrigerator for about two months, in a closed container.

Sugar Free BBQ Sauce
8 servings
12 oz. dark lager beer of your choice
1/2 cup sweetener of choice (preferably golden or brown)
1/2 cup tomato sauce
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons mustard
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder (cayenne, chipotle, etc)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon xantham gum

Place all of the ingredients, except the xantham gum, in a heavy pot. Whisk until everything is incorporated.

Bring it to a boil and reduce the heat. Simmer for about an hour. Make sure the temperature is low.

Sprinkle a little bit of xantham gum on to the sauce and whisk it in until it is all dissolved. Continue doing so until you have added the 1/2 teaspoon. Stir until the sauce thickens and remove from the heat.

Store the sauce in the fridge in a closed container for up to 2 months.

    I am so sorry for the delay in answering your question! You can go ahead and replace it with unflavored gelatin, guar gum, a little cornstarch (that will increase the carbs a bit). It is only used to thicken the sauce. Thank you so much! I hope this sauce comes out great for you!
