French toast is so delicious and so very easy to make. This particular version calls for cinnamon bread. You can purchase it at your grocery store. We used the Cinnabon brand but sometimes we use the one that Costco sells. Trader Joe’s also carries a fantastic loaf of thick cut cinnamon bread. It is delicious and makes great French toast!
When we make French toast we use 1 egg per every 2 slices of bread. Beat the eggs and add a splash of milk to them. When we use regular bread we add a little ground cinnamon and a splash of almond extract to our egg. However, because our bread is already “bursting” with cinnamon flavor this will not be necessary.
Heat a griddle with some butter. Dunk the bread into the egg for about 30 seconds and place on the griddle, letting the excess egg drip off. Cook the toast until the bottom side is browned, about 4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side. That easy!
Stack two slices of French toast and cut them diagonally. Arrange them on a plate and sprinkle with confectioners sugar. Serve with maple syrup, bacon strips and fruit. Enjoy!
