How to Make Blackberry Crisp

Blackberry Crisp

I made this crisp with blackberries but it can be made with any other fruit you want – strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, pears, peaches, a combination of berries – you catch my drift! The topping is absolutely wonderful and ever so easy to make! Here is what you are going to need for this:

Blackberries are known for their deep, rich flavor that combines both sweet and tart notes. At peak ripeness, they are juicy with a balanced sweetness and a slightly tangy undertone. Their complex flavor profile can include hints of earthiness and a touch of floral aroma, making them a versatile ingredient in both sweet and savory dishes. The tiny seeds within the berries add a subtle crunch, enhancing the overall eating experience.

What is a Crisp?

A crisp is a type of dessert that consists of a fruit base topped with a streusel-like mixture, which typically includes oats, sugar, flour, and butter. The topping bakes to a crisp and crumbly texture, providing a delightful contrast to the soft, juicy fruit underneath. Unlike a cobbler, which has a biscuit-like topping, or a crumble, which may omit oats, a crisp is distinguished by its oat-enriched, crunchy topping. This dessert is simple to make and can be adapted with various fruits depending on the season.
