How to Make Hummus
Hummus is a Middle Eastern spread that is typically eaten with pita bread. It is also a great dip for a variety of vegetables – carrots, cauliflower, snap peas and celery. It’s main ingredients are chickpeas (garbanzo beans) and Tahine which is sesame paste. Garbanzos are a great source of protein. Here is what you are going to need for this:
2 cups cooked garbanzo beans OR 2 – 8 oz. cans
1/2 a cup of the garbanzo liquid
2 TBS Tahine
1/2 a large lemon
1/4 tsp. cumin
1 large garlic clove
Salt
Mix the Tahine with the lemon, cumin and salt in a small bowl.
Place the mixture with the garbanzo, garlic and liquid in a food processor. Process until creamy. Taste and adjust salt or lemon juice, if necessary.
Serve and enjoy!
