How to Make Pita Chips with Herbs
Pita chips are a great alternative to potato chips. They are crunchy and delicious. These are made with herbs and spices for enhanced flavor. They are very good.
You can eat pita chips as is for a snack, on salads or soups, or with hummus. I make mine from my homemade pita bread but you can certainly use store bought bread for this.
You can also make these sweet with butter, sugar and cinnamon. They are delightful to eat.
Here is what you need to do for these crisp and delectable pita chips:
Makes 48 chips
8 pieces pita bread – cut into 6 triangles
½ cup olive oil
1 tsp. coarse salt
1 tsp. black pepper
½ tsp. dried thyme
½ tsp. dried oregano
½ tsp. paprika
1 tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. chopped Rosemary leaves
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the oil with all the spices.
Place the cut pita bread in a bowl and pour the oil on the triangles. Toss the bread – carefully – until completely coated. Place chips in a baking sheet – in an individual layer.
Bake chips for about 7 minutes and flip them over. Bake for an extra 5 to 6 minutes until crisp.
Serve and enjoy as a snack or with hummus.
