Crispy Potatoes in the Oven

In order to make these crispy potatoes in the oven we are going to first boil them in salted water. We will then cook them down, smash them and spice them up before placing them in the oven. The final result will be a crispy exterior with a nice and tender interior. This is easy and extremely delicious.

We will be adding a little bit of cumin and a little bit of oregano to our potatoes before we place them in the oven. Please be sure not to exaggerate with these ingredients, as you do not want them to overpower the potato. A little will go a long way.

Check to see if your potatoes are ready by piercing them with a fork. If it goes through the potato it is ready. This should happen at about 20 minutes after the water started boiling. Don’t overcook them and remove them from the water one by one rather than dumping them out of the pot. This will prevent them from mashing up.

This is a beautiful side dish that can be served as is or with a side of ketchup, salsa or sour cream. These crispy potatoes in the oven are a great alternative to fried potatoes.

This is what you need to make these delicious crispy potatoes in the oven:

Serves four
16 small potatoes
Olive oil

Wash the potatoes well and place them in a pot with salted water. Cook the potatoes until you can pierce them with a fork. Do not overcook them. Remove them from the water one at a time on to a dish and allow cooling.

Heat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 C).

Place the cooked and cooled potatoes on a baking sheet leaving enough room between them to spread. Use the bottom of a glass to smash them against the baking sheet.

Drizzle all the potatoes with some olive oil. Sprinkle some salt, a little bit of cumin and oregano and some black pepper on every potato.

Place the baking sheet into the oven and bake them for about 20 minutes until the potatoes are nice and crisp.

Serve as is or with a side of salsa or ketchup or sour cream. Enjoy!
