How to Make Fried Yuca

Yuca is an elongated, tubular root that is popular in many countries of the world. It is also known as cassava and mandioca. Yucca has a distinct, delicate flavor and can be used in lieu of potatoes in many dishes. This recipe shows you how to peel it and deep fry it. Use this as a side for meats, poultry, pork or fish.
What you need to do is peel the cassava and cook it in boiling, salted water. Once you can pierce it with a fork, remove it from the heat. Cool it down and cut it. Deep fry it in very hot oil until crisp and browned. Place the fried yucca on paper towels and drain. Salt and enjoy!
Here is a short video on how to make this:

I had no idea! Delicious and super easy! I served yucca with big salad and a pork roast. Used a little Crema Mexicana on the side to dip the yucca in. I’ve deluted sour cream with a little milk and salt to taste when I can’t find the crema. Thank you, thannk you, thank you. Aside from being so good & easy…very good & easy on the pocket book too.

Bought a yucca today for the first time. Wanted to change up some foods I have been eating and have seen this used a lot. Just boiled it up in some salted water and mashed it. Taste great and can’t wait to use this on a wrap.

We used to call that the soapweed. It was believed the natives used it for shampoo because of the saponins in it. Does that come off with the peels?
