Graham Cracker Crust

Many desserts call for graham cracker crust and this is the basic crust for pie and cheese cakes. It is readily available at stores in the USA but not so much in other countries. The good news is that it is very easy to make.

You can use Graham crackers, Maria cookies, butter cookies, chocolate cookies or shortbread for this recipe. You can also add cinnamon, crushed nuts of all types and even some dried herbs like Rosemary, depending on the dessert you are making.

Make sure that the butter yo use for this is unsalted or your crust will be salty and you really do not want that. Believe me.

Here is what you need for this graham cracker crust:

Makes 1 pie or cheesecake crust

1 ½ cups crushed cookie crumbs (Graham, short bread, Maria)
1/3 cup sugar
6 TBS unsalted, melted butter

Heat the oven to 375 degrees.

Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. Put them in a pie dish and press the cookie on the bottom and the sides.

Place the pie dish in the oven and bake for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove it from the oven. It will continue to be soft and will harden as it cools.

Cool down completely and use for your favorite dessert.
