This homemade tartar sauce recipe is very easy and quick to make when you are serving fish or seafood. I like using it for my fish sticks or battered fish and seafood recipes.
I know that it is convenient to purchase this sauce already made but I like to know what I am serving at home. This will keep in the fridge for about 2 weeks, in a closed container.
Here is what you are going to need for this delish homemade tartar sauce recipe:
Makes about 1 cup sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
2 TBS lemon juice
1 TBS finely chopped pickles
1 TBS finely chopped shallot or red onion
1 TBS finely chopped capers
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. black pepper
Place the mayo, lemon juice, pickles, shallot or red onion and capers in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Whisk well until it is all incorporated. Cover the bowl with plastic and refrigerate for a minimum of an hour before serving.
