How to Make Fried Plantain
Plantains are large bananas that you will find mainly in Latin American supermarkets. You can use them to make casseroles, filled with meat, boiled, roasted, fried as chips or fried for a side for any meat or vegetarian dish. If you are going to make chips you will need green plantains. However, to prepare them any other way you need them to be very ripe. You will know they are ripe when the skin starts getting black.

To make these as a side dish simply peel the plantain and slice it lengthwise. You want each slice to be about 1/4 inch thick.

Heat a skillet with some vegetable oil and cook the plantains in a single layer. Cook until one side is browned and flip. Cook until the other side is browned. Remove the cooked plantain and place on a paper towel to drain the oil. Serve and enjoy!
