How to Make Grilled Baked Potatoes
Grilled Baked Potatoes
Ingredients:
- Potatoes:
- Russet potatoes (quantity as desired)
- Olive oil (for coating)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- Aluminum foil (for wrapping)
- For Serving:
- Butter
- Sour cream
- Bacon bits
- Chives, chopped
Instructions:
- Prepare the Grill:
- Gas Grill: Turn on half of the burners to create a zone of indirect heat.
- Charcoal Grill: Pile the hot coals onto one side of the grill to establish direct and indirect heating zones.
- Prep the Potatoes:
- Scrub the Russet potatoes thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt.
- Pat them dry with a clean towel.
- Using your hands or a brush, coat each potato evenly with olive oil.
- Season each potato generously with salt and black pepper.
- Wrap each seasoned potato individually in aluminum foil, ensuring they are sealed well.
- First Cooking Phase:
- Place the foil-wrapped potatoes on the unlit side (indirect heat zone) of the grill.
- Close the grill lid to maintain consistent heat.
- Cook the potatoes for 1 hour. This slow cooking allows the potatoes to become tender inside.
- Second Cooking Phase:
- After 1 hour, carefully use tongs to remove the foil from each potato. Be cautious of the hot steam.
- Place the unwrapped potatoes back on the unlit side of the grill.
- Close the grill lid and cook for an additional 20 minutes. This step helps to crisp up the potato skins.
- Serve:
- Once cooked, remove the potatoes from the grill.
- Serve them hot with desired toppings: butter, sour cream, bacon bits, and chopped chives.
Enjoy your delicious grilled baked potatoes! They’re the perfect side dish for any BBQ or outdoor gathering.
